Instructions for Contributors
- Manuscripts (in English) should be
submitted to the Editorial Office of Mind and Matter at editor@mindmatter.de
or to the postal address of the editors.
Submitted manuscripts are processed if they have not been published previously and are not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. A statement transfering copyright from the authors (or their employers, if they hold the copyright) to Imprint Academic will be required before the manuscript can be accepted for publication. The Editorial Office will supply the necessary forms.
- Mind and Matter encourages
the submission of LaTeX documents. Electronic submission should include
the original source file (together with all style files and figures)
and a pdf-version (including the figures) of the complete submission.
Alternatively, three copies of a manuscript (including copies of all
illustrations and tables) are requested in case of hard-copy
submissions.
- Papers should be as short and
concise as possible. An abstract is to be provided, preferably no
longer than 150 words, containing the background, rationale, and main
conclusions of the manuscript.
- Illustrations (photographs,
drawings, diagrams, and charts) are to be numbered in one consecutive
series of Arabic numerals. The captions for illustrations should be
typed on a separate sheet of paper. Photographs should be large, glossy
prints, showing high contrast. Drawings should be high-quality laser
prints or should be prepared with india ink. Either original drawings
or good-quality photographic prints are acceptable. Identify figures on
the back with the author's name and number of the illustration.
Electronic artwork should be in eps or pdf format (1200 dpi for line drawings and 300
dpi for half-tones and gray-scale art).
- Tables should be numbered
(preferably with Roman numerals) and referred to by number in the text.
Each table should be typed on a separate sheet of paper.
- All references cited in the text
are to be listed at the end of the paper in alphabetical order under
the first author's name. Citations in the text should be by author and
publication year in parentheses.
- Footnotes should be numbered using a
separate set of numerals and should be typed at the bottom of the page
to which they refer. Place a line above the footnote, so that it is set
off from the text. Use the appropriate superscript numeral without
parentheses for citation in the text.
- Submissions will be professionally
peer-reviewed by experts to be selected by the editorial staff. If a submitted
manuscript has been accepted for publication,
electronic source files and a pdf version of the final manuscript
should be submitted to the Editorial Office.
- Only one set of proofs is sent to
the authors. This shows the final layout of the paper as it will appear
in the journal. It is therefore essential that manuscripts are
submitted in their final form, ready for the printer, and that
the approximate desired positions of figures and tables are marked
in the margins. Proofreading should be limited to the correction of
typographical errors. Any other changes involve time-consuming and
expensive work, and the costs will be charged to the author(s).
If absolutely necessary and space permits, additions may be made at the
end of the paper in a "note added in proof".
- The journal makes no page charges.
